What's new in Utah law that might affect my case?

Several major Utah law changes affect Southern Utahns right now:

  • 2026 DUI Law (HB 437) — Utah enacted significant changes to DUI law effective January 2026, including extreme DUI penalties. See the Interdicted Person Amendments.
  • Title 81 Family Law Reorganization — Effective September 2024, Utah's family law statutes moved from Title 30 to Utah Code Title 81. The old citations are now obsolete.
  • LUDMA Reorganization (SB 1008) — Land use law moved from Title 10 Chapter 9a to Title 10 Chapter 20 for cities (and Title 17 Chapter 79 for counties).
  • Virgin River Adjudication — The State Engineer is actively processing water rights claims across the Virgin River drainage, with new subdivisions being initiated in 2025-2026.
